Issue: ZeraWare fails to install. Some computers have a setting that prevents the ZeraWare installation program (Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express) from working.
Problem:
1. During the installation process, a pop-up window appears that states the following.
The SQL Server service failed to start. For more information see the SQL Server 2005 Books OnLine topics, "How to View SQL Server 2005 Setup Log Files" and "Stacking SQL Server Manually".
2. Or, after installing ZeraWare then clicking ZeraWare in your list of Programs; the following pop-up window appears.

3. Clicking the “Connect” button results in the "unable to connect" pop up below.

Solution: click the "Troubleshoot" button. This will help identify the problem (a setting on your computer is preventing the SQL Express data base from installing). A message will appear with the following instructions that will fix the problem.

Issue: During installation a small window opens asking for the server name.
- Cause #1: ZeraWare is being installed on a network. After installing ZeraWare on the server and then installing ZeraWare on a "Client" work station; the program asks for the server name.
Solution #1: Enter the name of the computer that installed the data base engine as follows: name(back slash)zeraware.
- Cause #2: The computer downloading ZeraWare may be on a network that has a lock on installing unauthorized software programs. A window may also open stating: "You do not have privileges to complete installation."
Solution #2: Determine if a lock has been applied to the computer network at your facility. If so, authorization will be required from your firm's network IT personnel to install ZeraWare.
- Cause #3: The first part of the installation process involves installing the data base. Then you are asked to reboot the computer to complete the installation. If your computer is slow, the data base may not be fully installed when the reboot is done.
Solution #3: If your computer is slow: when you are asked to reboot your computer, wait two minutes before clicking "OK".

Issue:
If your computer uses the Microsoft Vista operating system, a setting may block the installation codes from opening ZeraWare. The following message will appear.
"Unable to store installation codes. Make sure you are running ZeraWare with administrator access."
Solution:
After installing ZeraWare, you need to run ZeraWare in the “administrator” mode. From your Start menu find ZeraWare in your list of Programs. RIGHT click the ZeraWare icon. LEFT click “Run as Administrator”. Now the installation codes will work.

Issue:
The OSHA 300 Log does not open when the "View Form" button on the OSHA Injury Recordkeeping - Data Maintenance page is clicked.
Solution:
The OSHA forms on ZeraWare are in PDF format from Adobe and require Adobe Reader to be installed on the computer. Occasionally, the Adobe Reader program will not function correctly. Close ZeraWare and reboot your computer. Restarting the Adobe Reader should rectify the problem.
